INVADERS FROM MARS
day one

Briefly, but completely answer the following questions. They follow the plotline.

Scientists are the subject at the beginning speech, but what kind of scientists are meant?
Astronomers who realize that if there are inhabitants of other planets they may be concerned with earth invading them.
What time has David awakened to see what? And with what result?
He set his alarm to look at Orion. His alarm wakes his parents and they encourage him to go back to sleep.
What wakes David the second time? And with what result?
Because of the noise from the storm, David awakes and sees a flying saucer land and sink into a sandy field outside his window.
Why does David’s father go looking in the field? What happens to him?
David's father is willing to check out his son's story, so matter how strange. He tells his wife that it is in the interest of his job and security. Then when he reaches the end of the fence he is sucked down into the ship below the sand.
What does David’s mother do after her husband seems to disappear?
She calls the police and they go out to check the sandy area. Then they are sucked down.
What shows that David’s father is not himself?
David's father is unemotional, short-answered, and acts opposite to what we had seen earlier. He even slaps David when he doesn't immediately obey.
Why doesn’t anyone help David in his own investigation?
David is a kid. Some of the adults have already been invaded by the Martians and the others won't listen.
Why is the doctor a good character?
The Doctor listens and immediately lets David look at her neck. She protects David against his parents and knows from her boy friend the astronomer that David is level-headed and likely a beginning scientist.
Why does the astronomer at least give David a serious listen?
He listens to David because he has allowed David to use the telescope before. He knows he is not prone to hysteria.
What is David’s father’s work?
David's father is working on a project that will send a nuclear rocket ship into space.
Besides the rocket ship what else is seen through the telescope?
The three of them see the area where the flying saucer landed and what is going on there.
